Don Weideman is a highly respected entrepreneur, sports visionary, executive coach, competitive athlete, meet director, and referee. He is the Founder of "Realize the Power," an interdisciplinary approach that integrates Olympic Weightlifting with behavioral science to improve the performance of executives and their teams. Using his executive coaching approach, Mr. Weideman leads executives to leverage the highly specialized techniques of world-class Olympic Weightlifting and Competitive Training to attain a heightened level of mental focus, develop competitive toughness, improve the overall personal wellness required to overcome the rough battles of business competition, and more fully enrich their lives. Don serves as Chief Coach and consulting specialist to the Systems Management Institute. An experienced Olympic Weightlifting coach, and former Pacific Weightlifting Association Masters Record Holder, Don serves as Vice President of the Pacific Weightlifting Association and as national delegate to the Board of Governors of USA Weightlifting, the weightlifting arm of the United States Olympic Committee.
Mr. Weideman bridges the world of competitive training with the environment of business competition. Believing in the power of the present to solve tomorrow's problems, he is committed to leading executives to understand the relationship between success and competition, and between mental focus and opportunity. Mr. Weideman assists clients locally and globally in personal development, competitive relations, competitive leadership, and the fitness-skills side of management development.
Tuned to the demands of competitive discipline, he is a certified Health and Fitness Instructor and Weightlifting Coach. Mr. Weideman is certified by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and the United States Weightlifting Federation (USAW). Well versed in the role that sports competition can play in management success, he enjoys working with individuals to lead them to new levels of personal power by designing powerful coaching solutions to meet the unique needs of each client. Mr. Weideman enjoys more than 15 years of experience as a personal trainer to executives. Earlier in his career, he served as athletic director, club manager, and gym owner. Most recently, he was a partner in a gym in San Francisco.
As a coach, Don currently specializes in training Master Level competitors, those 35 years of age and above. One of his students is presently in training to compete in the Masters World Championships next year. Don also continues to compete in Olympic Weightlifting. He is a Personal Trainer of IDEA, and a professional member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) where he is concerned about the problem facing executives in the business community.
Mr. Weideman has an enduring social vision. He is especially concerned about the challenges facing the young and the disadvantaged and actively sponsors young athletes in their efforts to participate in organized Olympic Weightlifting. He currently serves as strength coach at the high school level and is an instructor of executive fitness at the Systems Management Institute. Certified to design programs in executive coaching, he has lectured in the role of sports in developing management excellence. He is a member of The Newkirk Group Board of Advisers.
